Charismatic element – education and content

As we consider the relevance of our charism, we reflect on its significance and the partnerships formed within our institution. Recognizing the individual’s role in making a difference within an environment of freedom, we understand the importance of personal transformation. Reflecting on the compassionate spirit exemplified by Don Lorenzo Milani and the patient guidance of Jesus with his apostles, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to uphold the dignity of all individuals, particularly women in today’s society. Pope Francis’s call for tenderness and encouragement resonates deeply, urging us to be agents of positive change in our communities.

Inspired by the example of St. Jeanne Antide, who embraced freedom and empowerment as the main actor in her mission, we reflect on our own choices and their consequences. We understand our collective responsibility as the main actors in our journey towards personal growth. Valuing the guidance of conscience, we emphasize its cultivation within the educational context, where teachers play a significant role. Upholding St. Jeanne Antide’s legacy, we prioritize education and conscience in our mission.

Reflecting on moral and conscience formation, we draw inspiration from St. Jeanne Antide’s journey, guided by her faith in making courageous choices in service to the marginalized. Recognizing the transformative power of education, we commit to nurturing talents and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. Acknowledging the importance of non-verbal communication and empathy in our interactions, we strive to embody qualities such as tenderness, patience, and encouragement. In conclusion, we aspire to be agents of positive change in our communities, echoing the spirit of revolution advocated by Pope Francis.

Exploring the Identity of Catholic Schools in Malta

Upon reflecting on the current identity of Catholic schools in Malta, it is evident that there is a dynamic interplay between tradition and change. Our school, steeped in a legacy of 122 years, holds a distinct identity shaped by various factors such as events, teachings, relationships, and societal shifts.

The essence of a Catholic school lies in its values of faith, love, and placing the individual at the centre, echoing the ethos of the Sisters of Charity. Embracing inclusivity, we aim to reflect Pope Francis’ vision of education as a collective endeavour, involving all stakeholders, including parents, in the holistic development of students.

At the core of our identity are four fundamental principles, rooted in the teachings of St. Jeanne Antide Thouret, emphasizing the importance of collective education, freedom of choice coupled with responsibility, continuous learning, and fostering a culture of care and inclusivity.

In today’s rapidly evolving society, marked by technological advancements and societal changes, Catholic schools play a pivotal role in instilling hope and values in students. As educators, we acknowledge the need to adapt pedagogy to empower students, particularly girls, as central figures in society, guided by the liberal feminine ideals embodied by St. Jeanne Antide Thouret.

The cultivation of emotional intelligence (EI) is deemed crucial in navigating the complexities of modern society, emphasizing the importance of servant leadership and accountability among educators. By embodying qualities of tenderness, love, and enthusiasm, we aspire to create a nurturing environment conducive to the holistic development of students.

The identity of Catholic schools in Malta is a blend of tradition and adaptation, guided by principles of inclusivity, faith, and continuous learning. As we navigate the challenges of a changing world, our commitment to fostering happy individuals remains unwavering, driven by a shared responsibility to shape future generations with hope, love, and compassion.
